If you know any adventure
lovers who live in BC, the Yukon, Northwest Territories,
Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming,
or California and want to play in the kitchen or in a
campground, drop me a line, and I'll look them up
for "One Meatless Meal"!
Will and SaraRuth from
Arizona at the KOA in Missoula, Montana.
Half-moons on Christina
Lake.
Crazed marshmallow roaster in
Basalt, Colorado.
Kevin's first ride on a
borrowed Honda Hurricane. After a bite at Blue Dog in
Invermere.
Yukon John with his mountain
of poker chips. Look out for him at the tables at Gertie's!
He's famous for getting his flush on the river.
Nate, solo Kawasaki Vulcan
rider, Ed, in his sixties riding a big BMW, Bill, 52, on a
Harley, Andy, 74, retired airline pilot riding a Goldwing,
and Ralph, 74, retired accountant on a Goldwing. These four
from Sacramento, CA, did a month-long Alaskan adventure
together, much to the dismay of most of their friends, who
told them they were too old!
Nate with his raggamuffin
1994 Kawasaki Vulcan. I saw his bike in the front of the
ferry line-up at Skagway before I met him and thought to
myself, "Whoever's riding this one is gonna be cool." He
is. Very. Expert rope knotter, solo adventurer, world
traveller, mountain guide, future orthopedic surgeon, bread
baker, gem of a human. He grew up vegetarian, practises
yoga, and he holds his own at poker. He followed me to
Skagit Harley Davidson in Burlington when we got off the
ferry, just to make sure my battery would get me there.
Jim Deuitshman hooked me up with a
battery in Boulder Creek.
My rescue squad, Richard, Mark and
John. They rescued me when I broke down on the Alaska
Highway. The next day, they broke down! We spent two
days together getting down to Prince George where I
could have Henk repaired. Three of the nicest guys
you'll ever meet.
